It’s wonderful to see more members of the congregation returning. We are very happy to welcome all parishioners back to St John’s and hope that everyone finds themselves and their families safe and well.
Please be advised that safety guidance remains in place:
• Maintain two-metre social distancing, including when seated
• Sanitise hands and follow the one-way system
• Wear a mask throughout the service
• Exit via the door next to the Lady Chapel
• Feel free to socialise in the churchyard, maintaining the necessary distance
Please contact our churchwardens if you would like to add any name to the prayer list. Every week we give thanks for those celebrating birthdays; we also pray for those who are ill, and those who have recently died.
We pray for:
Our local churches: Christ Church, Immanuel & St Andrew, St Leonard’s, St Peter’s – all in Streatham; also for All Saints Clapham Park, Christ Church Gipsy Hill, and St Margaret the Queen, Streatham Hill; for the priests and people of allthese places
Our local schools: Immanuel & St Andrew CofE School, St Leonard’s CofE School
Our local community: We pray for those who work or reside in HM Prison Brixton, that the Lord will support with His love the prisoners and their families, the prison staff and all who work to care for and rehabilitate those detained
We also pray for the Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Revd Christopher Chessun, and for all who work to support him in his ministry
As we approach St George’s Day on 23rd April, we pray that we, like St George, may have the courage to stand up for what is right, with God’s help. We pray that wemay be proud of our faith, and show the love of Jesus in all that we do
Those who recently died: HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh
Those who are ill: Revd Wheeler, Cindy Shipp
We also give thanks for the recovery of Thelma Laverley, Joyce Sillah
Those whose year’s mind we keep: Charles Pescott, Stephan Tzarkov,
William Hindson, Cyril Macaulay, Claris Macaulay, Jeanne Bowpitt
