PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
People pray in church before the Eucharist. Please respect the quiet before the service begins.
AFTER THE EUCHARIST
Please feel free to socialise in the churchyard,
maintaining the necessary distance.
Today’s Eucharist is a family service. As such, there’ll be no crèche or Junior Church,to allow children to be part of the church family. We welcome them all to the service!
The licensing of our new Vicar-Designate, the Revd Caroline Risdon, will take place on Wednesday 9th June at 6.30 pm. Due to Covid restrictions, places are limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please sign up by 23rd May if you would like to attend – a sheet is available by the exit door next to the Lady Chapel.
CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 2021
As this year’s Christian Aid Week concludes, we would like to say thank you to everyone who has made contributions. We will have a final envelope collection today, and hopefully in June we’ll be able to organise our popular Super Soup Lunch or an afternoon tea, or both!
Since the foodbank in Eltham closed down, we have been sending our donations to a foodbank run by St Edward’s Church in Mottingham. We continue to encourage donations, which can be placed in the wicker basket at the back of church. A range of products are welcome, not just food – these are set out in a list in the basket.
DATES FOR THE DIARY
We will hold our Annual Parochial Church Meeting immediately after the service on Sunday 30th May. This is an important meeting, which will not only review the past year at St John’s but also elect churchwardens for the coming year and try to fill any vacancies on the Parochial Church Council.
Last week we reported that the next PCC meeting would be held on 22nd June. Unfortunately, we need to change this date and will let everyone know directly when have made a new arrangement.
We pray for:
Our local churches: the Wimbledon Team Ministry, including St Andrew’s South Wimbledon, Christ Church West Wimbledon, St Luke’s Wimbledon Park; Emmanuel Wimbledon; St Mary the Virgin, Merton; St Mark’s, St Matthew’s and St John the Baptist, all Wimbledon; for the bishops, priests and people of these places
