Many thanks to all those who have brought in donations of food, toiletries and clothing for the Manna Society today. The items are very gratefully received by the charity’s day centre in Bermondsey, which provides meals, showers, medical care and welfare advice to more than 100 homeless and disadvantaged people every day.
At Harvest, the church celebrates the goodness that God provides for everyone. As part of the celebration, all are invited to stay after today’s Eucharist for a ‘bring and share’ brunch. Don’t worry if you have not brought any food along – there’s always more than enough for everyone.
A group outing to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Bob Hope Theatre is arranged for Saturday 4th January at 2pm. If you would like tickets, please sign up on the church noticeboard. The cost is £9 for children and concessions, and £12 for adults. For further information, please see Jean Harker.
FAREWELL TO FR JIM
Fr Jim’s last Sunday at St John’s will be 27th October, following which the church will be in interregnum until a new priest is appointed. Fr Jim will be greatly missed, and we’d like to bid him a fond farewell following his last Parish Eucharist with a glass of wine and light refreshments in church. All are invited!
CONCERT IN AID OF WELCARE
The Ferrier Operatic Society will present their annual concert at St Mary’s Church, Welling, on Friday 11th October. The event raises vital funds for Greenwich Welcare, which works with underprivileged families in our borough. Come and hear songs and choral arrangements on the theme of ‘What a Wonderful World’. Tickets are £10, including a drink and nibbles. See the poster on the noticeboard for details.

If you would like to make a financial offering to the church and are a taxpayer,
it would help the church if you use a gift-aid envelope. This will enable the church to claim 25p for every £1 you give. Envelopes are at the back of church. Thank you.
Please send any items for inclusion in next Sunday’s news sheet to Amanda Jordan at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday morning. Thank you.
