Sunday 20th October

Fr John-Francis Friendship, who presides and preaches at St John’s today, has brought along copies of his new book, ‘The Mystery of Faith – Exploring Christian Belief.’Taking the Apostles Creed as a framework, the book has been written for the average reader who wants to explore Christian belief either as a newcomer to faith or as someone keen to find out more. Please see Fr John-Francis if you wish to buy a copy.

Volunteers are needed for the Greenwich Winter Night Shelter, which opens its doors this year on 14th November. The shelter is a Christian charity that provides dinner, a bed and breakfast to homeless people over the winter months. If you’d like to get involved or make a donation of money or food, please visit the website – – and fill in the online form. There’s also a poster on the church noticeboard.

Fr Jim’s last Sunday at St John’s will be 27th October. Fr Jim will be greatly missed, and we’d like to bid him a fond farewell following his last Parish Eucharist with a glass of wine and light refreshments in church. All are invited!

PLEASE NOTE that the clocks go back an hour next Sunday!

We are saddened to hear that Hope Esi died on Monday 14th October. Hope hadmany friends in St John’s and was a faithful member of the congregation for many years. We give thanks for her life and pray for her family and friends.

We still need two people to join our rota of coffee makers who prepare the drinks after the Sunday Eucharist. If you can help, please see Cindy Shipp. Thank you.

A trip to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Bob Hope Theatre is arranged for Saturday 4th January at 2pm. Please sign up for tickets on the noticeboard. It costs £9 for children/concessions, £12 for adults. See Jean Harker for more details.

Our Junior Church and crèche, run by members of St John’s, are looking for more adults to get involved. We’re seeing growing numbers of families coming to church, for which we give thanks, and we want to make sure our Junior Church and crèche are well-staffed to welcome all children. Please note a DBS check will be requiredfor all helpers. If you would like to be involved, please speak with Alex MacKenzie
