We need two people to join our rota of coffee makers who provide drinks after theSunday Eucharist. People do value this time after the service as it provides a chance to socialise. Each helper only has to pitch in roughly six times a year, making the tea and coffee then washing up. If you can help, please see Cindy Shipp. Thank you.
A TREE FOR ST JOHN’S
As announced last month, St John’s will receive a tree to plant in the churchyard as part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy initiative. The tree, which will be either a hazel, birch or rowan, is being offered as a gift, and the church council will appoint an arboriculturist to plant it next month and advise on its protection and maintenance.
ST PAUL’S CATHEDRAL ADULT LEARNING
St Paul’s holds a variety of free events as part of its learning programme, the next of which is an evening discussion on ‘Where Love Is The Way: The Jesus Movement Now’ on Thursday 3rd October. The event will be led by the Most Revd Michael Curry, who preached last year at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. For more details and to book tickets, see stpauls.co.uk/learning-faith/adult-learning.
The Harvest Festival Eucharist will be at 10am on Sunday 6th October. If you can, please bring in donations of food, toiletries and clothing for the Manna Society, whose day centre in Bermondsey provides meals, showers, medical care and a place to rest for more than 100 people every day. Items most in need include sugar, powdered milk, tinned vegetables and rice, as well as soap, shampoo and underwear. There is a complete list posted on the church noticeboard. Many thanks.
