Bishop Christopher’s Lent Call

The Diocese has provided some background to this year’s lent call, and with Ash Wednesday on 17 February, The Standing Committee wanted you all to be aware of what it is and how to engage if you wish to do so.

In the last year so much has changed and we have all become much more aware of the fragility our lives and our communities. The footballer Marcus Rashford has helped to raise everyone’s awareness of the need to ensure that our children are adequately fed during school holidays. But it is not just schoolchildren who are at risk. Whole families are in need of help, as well as couples and individuals. That is why we are focusing the Bishop’s Lent Call this year on food insecurity, both here in the Diocese and in our Link Dioceses.

The materials contain information on the projects, Reflections and a Lent Call prayer, and some fundraising ideas with which we hope people will wish to engage. We are encouraging people to pray for the projects which we are featuring and, where possible, to give what they can to support the work of ensuring that people have enough to eat.
